I am currently working on three research projects. The first project is to study the matter properties at extreme temperature and density by colliding relativistic heavy ions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Lab (PHENIX/sPHENIX). The second project is to develop particle identification detectors for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) experiments. The third project is to study the properties of cosmic ray radiation and the associated applications at global scale focusing on space and terrestrial weather monitoring.
Murad Sarsour
I am interested in probing the spin structure of the proton. I am a member of the PHENIX and sPHENIX Collaborations at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Neutron Spin Rotation collaboration at NIST. I am also taking a leading role in developing particle identification detector (called mRICH) for EIC.
Megan Connors
I study how high energy particles interact with the Quark Gluon Plasma by measuring particle correlation at PHENIX at RHIC and reconstructing jets with ALICE at the LHC. I am also involved in the development and eventual construction of the hadronic calorimeter for the new jet detector at RHIC known as sPHENIX.
