EIC Detector R&D

The members of the GSU Nuclear Physics Group is developing a modular Cherenkov ring imaging (mRICH) detector for the future Electron Ion Collider (EIC) experiments. A one-page summary of the mRICH is the following:

The first mRICH prototype detector was built at GSU and successfully tested at Fermi National Accelerator Lab in April of 2016. The results have been published in MIN A NIM A871, 2017.

The second mRICH prototype with improved optical design was tested at Fermilab in June 2018. This prototype was also tested at JLab in 2021 together with a pair of GEM tracker.
